Little Cheesy Scones - Pogácsa

LITTLE CHEESY SCONES

This is my favourite scone-recipe, it is called “pogácsa” or “pogi” in Hungarian. I’ve been bakng it for about 8 years, minimum. You can’t stop eating this, if you started…

Time: 2,5 hours
Ingredients:
  • 450 g flour
  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 3 tablespoons of milk
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 15 cl sour cream
  • 100 g margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 3,5 teaspoons of salt
  • cheese to the top
Preparation:
You should heat the milk a little, add the sugar , and the yeast. Wait till the yeast comes up.
Put the margarine to the microwave for about 1,5 minutes, on 350 W, and pour it to a bowl.
Mix the flour, the margarine, the milky yeast, the sour cream, one egg, and the salt to a homogeneous pastry.
You should wait a half an hour , then put it to a pastry board, and roll it out. Then fold it at the half, and roll it out again with a rolling pin. Use a knife now. Make grooves, so it has a nice texture. After, you should cut cuboids from the pastry. You should put them to a floury plate  , and then to a baking paper (which is on a baking sheet). OK, now break an egg, mix it with a little salt, and with a brush, paint the cuboids with the egg. Rasp some cheese to the top, and put it to the oven. You should bake it on big flames (190 C) for abot 5-10 minutes, then on little flames (175 C) for about 25-35 minutes. Bon Appetite! :)
